Linwood Barclay

Why offer reasoned, thoughtful and fair political analysis, when a cheap shot will do?  That’s the philosophy of columnist and author Linwood Barclay, whose hilarious, satirical jabs at our elected officials are a mainstay of his thrice-weekly articles in the Toronto Star.  His readers can look for further examinations of our elected officials at Queen’s Park in his book, Mike Harris Made Me Eat My Dog.

Barclay, when not lampooning politicians or examining life’s everyday trials, reports on the domestic scene in The Star’s Life section. His latest book, Last Resort which Linwood describes as “very autobiographical and bittersweet,”  has just been released.  He’s also the author of  Father Knows Zilch: A Guide for Dumbfounded Dads and This House is Nuts!

Barclay lives in Burlington with his wife Neetha and children, Spencer and Paige.  He started his journalism career in 1977 at the Peterborough Examiner, moved to a small Oakville paper in 1979, and joined The Star in 1981, where he was an assistant city editor, news editor, chief copy editor, and Life editor, prior to becoming a columnist in 1993.
