Marcel Côté is a senior partner of Secor, a Montreal-based consulting firm. He is an economist, holding a degree from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is also a Fellow of the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. Marcel has taught at Université de Sherbrooke and the Université du Québec à Montréal before founding Secor in 1975.
Marcel Côté is best known as management consultant for corporations, mainly in the field of strategic planning. He has acted as a catalyst and special advisor in various merger and business creation projects. Mr. Côté s also known for his works in economic development, a subject on which he has lectured extensively. He is the author of By Way of Advice: Economic Strategies for a Market Driven World (Mosaic Press, 1991). He co-authored, with Roger Miller, Growing the Next Silicon Valley (Lexington Press, 1987).
Marcel Côté is a contributor for CA Magazine, in which
he writes a monthly column on economics. He also is a frequent speaker
in business forums. Throughout his career, Mr Côté has
also acted as an economic advisor for numerous levels of government.
From 1986 to 1988, he worked as an economic advisor to Premier of Quebec.
In 1989 and 1990, he was Director of Strategic Planning and Communication
for the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada. Marcel Côté
is a director of Sobeys, ING Canada and Positron Fiber System. He
is also President of the Board of the Montréal YMCA Foundation and
director of the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra.
