“It’s a wonder the roof of the Cohn didn’t blow off last night.” |
As well as the weekly radio show, Double Exposure have recorded CD’s, voiced cartoons, written and performed their own New Year’s Eve television specials, written a best-selling book of their humour, and performed ‘live’ for thousands of Canadians in every province and territory. As mimics, they have no equals. Their writing is biting, topical, political and very, very funny! To remain on the air as long as they have is no mean feat. As Robertson says, "We do Double Exposure because we love it, and we’ll keep doing it as long as it’s fun."
In 1986, Linda Cullen and Bob Robertson developed the concept of Double Exposure as a weekly comedy show, using only two writers and two performers with Cullen and Robertson filling both roles. They proposed an in-studio program where they would write sketches about and mimic the voices of Canada’s well-known figures in politics, the media, sports and show business.
Nearly every prime minister of Canada has not only listened to, but watched Double Exposure perform in front of them, along with countless other politicians, who, far from being upset, have joined in the fun of Cullen and Robertson’s hilarious lampooning of everything Canadian. They have been awarded the National Radio Award for Best Variety Program, as well as the CBC’s President’s Award for Best Weekly Radio Program.
