 Joline Godfrey 


Joline Godfrey is a national spokesperson for and one of the country’s leading experts in entrepreneurship for women and girls.  She is the author of two popular books:  Our Wildest Dreams:  Women Making Money, Doing Good, Having Fun and No More Frogs to Kiss:  99 Ways to Give Economic Power to Girls (both published by HarperBusiness).  Her third book, Twenty Secrets to Independence, will be published by Golden Books Publishing in 1999. She also writes for Inc. Magazine and Enterprising Woman.

After working at the Polaroid Corporation for ten years, she left with financial backing from that corporation, to start her first business, Odysseum.  In 1992 she founded An Income of Her Own, a program that offers entrepreneurship education for young women.  This national organization serves thousands of teenage women.  Partnerships with The National Association of Women Business Owners, Women’s Inc., the National Women’s Business Council, and The Women’s Equity Fund have given Godfrey access to and a following among women business owners nationwide.

A much sought after speaker, Ms. Godfrey has received an honorary degree from Bentley College in honor of her work with AIOHO. She has been nominated by Ernst and Young as part of their Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for 1996.

She is an advisor to Bank of America’s Women’s Banking Initiative, the Women’s Equity Fund, and the World Congress of Women Business Owners.  Recently featured in a film on women and leadership commissioned by IBM, she is also on the board of the Leadership Conference, chaired by Warren Bennis.  She holds degrees from the University of Maine and received her graduate degree from Boston University.
