Richard Lambert

Editor of the Financial Times

Richard Lambert became the editor of the Financial Times in January 1991. His entire career has been spent at the Financial Times since graduating from Balliol College, Oxford in 1966 with a degree in Modern History. His jobs have included editor of the Lex Column, the paper’s main investment commentary; financial editor; and New York bureau chief.  Before his appointment as editor, he served as deputy editor under Sir Geoffrey Owen.

During his editorship, the Financial Times has substantially increased its international presence, while retaining its leadership as the UK business newspaper. The number of print sites around the world has doubled. There are currently ten sites, with two more scheduled to open soon. And the international edition has become more distinct from the UK newspaper. The plan is to now build a US version of the international edition.

Outside of the Financial Times, Richard Lambert is chairman of the Visiting Arts, a  government supported body which helps to bring international culture to the UK. He is also associated with the charity Blind in Business, and the Business History Unit at the London School of Economics.

During his 35 years at the Financial Times, Mr. Lambert has both witnessed and analyzed virtually every Global Economic twist and turn first hand. He leads a team of business reporters that are regarded by many as the finest in the world.  He will explain to your audience in detail what current Global Economic trends are poised to dramatically change the face of business.
