Comic/writer Steve Smith is riding a wave of popularity due to the international success of The Red Green Show. The Canadian cult smash hit "about what men do when women aren't around" is taking American Television by storm. The Red Green Fan Club, a spin-off from the show boasts huge memberships across Canada and the US and the numbers are growing daily.

A 20-year showbiz veteran (his career began as a member of the rock band Jason at the age of 24) Smith is a unique entertainer. Following his stint with Jason, Smith yearned to be a comic and formed Smith & Smith with his wife Morag. Together they opened for such entertainers as Rick Nelson, Roy Orbison, Al Martino, Helen Reddy, Martin Mull and many, many more.

In the late '70s Smith and Smith had a successful run on CHCH TV in Ontario racking up an impressive 195 episodes. With this, Smith wrote and produced all episodes and received the coveted Iris Award at the 1985 National Association for Program Television Executives (ANPTE) in San Francisco.

Following their success as Smith & Smith, the pair completed 26 episodes of the series Laughing Matters for the Global Television Network. In addition, he wrote a David Steinberg pilot for Tribune Entertainment entitled Out of Our Minds and several episodes of the hit CBS reality series, Top Cops.

Smith had a variety of jobs before deciding to enter show business, including working as a steam fitter, car jockey, postman, lab technician and elementary school teacher. Toronto-born, Smith attended the University of Waterloo where he studied engineering.
